Alzheimer's desease

Azheimer's

               Alzheimer is a type of dementia  that causes memory problems, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily task. Many people have trouble with memory, this does not mean they have Alzheimer’s. there are many different causes of memory loss. Majority of people with Alzheimer’s are  65 and older, however it’s not just a desease of old age. Up to 5 percent of people with the desease have early onset Alzheimer’s, which often appears when someone is in their 40’s and 50’s.

Dementia: general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. It is not a specific desease, it’s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms…

These are some reseach that i've made, just to have an idea of what is Alzheimer, and the picture is just to look how a normal brain looks from an Alzheimer brain... i picked out the most important informations for now i summarised them, there are more coming up... if you would like further informations you could go to www.alz.org

  2. Rachelle - have you worked with anyone or known anyone directly with the disease? Many folks have and it is certainly a difficult thing to watch someone go through. Please start a new post with more information that you find! Great stuff.

Thank you professor, i'm actually working with these people that's one of the reason why i chose these topics, because i would like to know more about them... these topics are also going to be for my presentation with 2 individuals one with Alzheimer and the other with bipolar... thank you for your comments everyone!

  4. Just read the above. I thought it was an earlier disease than what we discussed. It says above in 40's and 50's. Wow, scary to think it could be that young. Sad. I think people should get tested at a young age if there is family history. Could hold the effects back...

  5. you are right Lisa, but for the family history the percentage is about 10% the chance is 50/50... in this case i really think it would be good to get tested if there is family history.. thx for your comment.
